Installing A Tow Hook
- Locate the vehicle’s tow hook inside the vehicle. It is usually kept with the tool-changing tire at the rear of the vehicle. If you have difficulty locating it, the owner’s manual can point you to the exact location.
- Find the tow hook mounting location. Consult your owner’s manual for the specific location on your car.
- Remove the plastic cap on the mounting hole by pulling it out.
- Place the tow hook onto the wires and turn it counterclockwise until it stops turning.
Using the Tow Hook
- Insert a tow hook or strap into the end of the tow hook.
- Pull the tow line until it is slightly tight and place a cover over the center of the tow line. This will absorb all the energy if the cable snaps during recovery.
- Direct any people to move well away from the tow rope and the vehicle.
- Start by pulling the tow rope to move the vehicle.
